We award research grants of around DKK 500 million each year to Danish-based, biomedical sciences research – primarily in the field of brain research. The Lundbeck Foundation’s commercial activities encompass three large subsidiaries, an international portfolio of 18 venture capital companies, a portfolio of small biotech companies based on Danish university research and in-house administration of assets of around DKK 14 billion.

Danish-based researchers with stipends for sabbatical leave for research in biomedical sciences Danish-based researchers in clinical, translational and basic biomedical sciences with a minimum 5-year tenure at the same Danish university, university hospital or other research institution as associate professor, consultant, senior researcher or professor With the aim of the stipend being; to ensure that research directors are able to focus fully on their research during a consecutive period of secondment at a foreign institution Each stipend with a maximum of DKK 500,000. The secondment abroad must be for a duration of two to six months, as secondments of shorter or longer duration will not be subsidised The applicant must be able to be released from his or her duties (teaching, clinic, laboratory work, etc., but not PhD supervision) during the period

Drug trials conducted, either wholly or partially, in collaboration with commercial enterprises. Consequently, the foundation only funds investigator-initiated trials conducted independently of industry, whose aim may be, for example, to investigate effects, side effects, prognostic factors or biomarkers. To cover expenses already defrayed on the date of application For expenses to cover non project-related administration For students and/or tuition fees For passive participation in congresses For travel for several persons from the same research unit or department For other foundations and associations For research projects in commercial companies
