The Euro-Mediterranean Foundation of Support to Human Rights Defenders (EMHRF) is an independent regional foundation led by human rights defenders and experts in the affairs of the Arab region and acting for local human rights defenders, groups and NGOs from the region.

Human rights defenders facing difficulties/threats or who are at risk as a result of their activities in the region - individual defenders, NGO's and others Human rights defenders/activities in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Israel. However, human rights organisations and defenders based outside these countries may be supported by the Foundation if their action has a positive impact on one or several of those countries When applicants can show that an intervention by the Foundation will help counter threats against their lives and/or those of members of their family and reinforce the visibility and pursuit of their activities at a strategic timing With a demand that: the amount of funding requested may not exceed EUR 5,000 When the request is such that it cannot be fully supported on an emergency basis by another national, regional or international organisation With a right to demand further explanation and documentation, as well as certain demands: It is possible to read these on the "Overview" page in "Nødv. dokumenter"
Beskrivelse
All requests, including those which are denied, receive a written reply. From the moment the Secretariat has all the information needed to process the request and the urgent character of the situation has been ascertained, the request will be dealt with within a maximum of 10 days.
